A Day at Brighton Sea Life Centre

Anyone who knows us, or reads my blog, will know that a current favourite with the 3kids is the Octonauts. The other thing that is a permanent favourite here is seas/oceans and sea/ocean animals.

While I was browsing Facebook a few days ago I noticed a post advertising the Octonauts tour of Sea Life UK centres! Well, it didn’t take very long before I’d booked tickets for us to go to Brighton Sea Life Centre today! We’ve been a few times before and it is a family favourite place to visit, so the addition of Peso and Captain Barnacles made for 3 super-excited children!

On our visit today we saw many different types of fish, Thomas touched a Starfish and an anemone and we went on the Glass Bottomed Boat. We saw a Nautilus (that I don’t remember being there last time we went) a Giant Spider Crab and a Mantis Shrimp. We answered all the questions correctly in the challenge and got medals at the end!

But the highlight of the day was, of course, meeting Peso and Captain Barnacles!

A Good Friday Afternoon

On Friday afternoons Thomas and Jasmine go to Forest School, run by Tree House Learning. They have been going since September last year and they love it! Today’s session was special for 2 reasons; Firstly because Gordon went with them, and secondly they got to use tools for the first time! And when I say tools, I mean real, full sized tools! They used a bow saw and cut logs, 2 children at a time; one to push and one to pull (although Thomas chose Gordon as his partner!)

When Jasmine wasn’t using the saw, she collected logs from around “Base Camp”, set them up around a tree and made some music!

Whilst the big ones were out, Ben and I did some water play. I got the gravel tray out and filled it with water and Octonauts! After a bit of play I added some bubbles in as well and he had great fun with this! He managed to blow bubbles himself for the first time today 🙂

We had a good Friday afternoon 🙂

A Sunday Craft Project

Following on from yesterday’s Kwazii puppets, this is what we’ve been working on today 🙂

When twins are poorly, use Cbeebies!

Jasmine is still poorly today, and Thomas also seems to be coming down with something now as well. Both have had high temperatures and Jasmine spent a few hours in bed this afternoon drifting in and out of sleep. It seems to have done her the world of good though as she managed to eat more at dinner this evening than she has done in all her meals put together since Thursday!

So today we’ve had moments of quiet alongside moments of wanting stuff to do today. This morning I wandered into the living room to find all 3 kids sitting at the table drawing really nicely together. DrawingThey were all drawing Kwazii from The Octonauts!

They have been asking to make this Kwazii puppet since they saw it on CBeebies a few days ago and because it is a craft that can be done a bit at a time it was perfect for today. We painted the paper plates this morning and then gradually throughout the day all 3 kids finished their puppet.

They are all very pleased with their finished puppet, and of course now they want Peso and Captain Barnacles puppets as well! Luckily we have plenty of paper plates!
